Dr. David Adams is Professor of Clinical Neurology and Director of the General Neurology Division.  He received his medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1969.  He then completed his internship at the University of Washington and his Neurology Residency at the Neurological Institute of New York.  Prior to arriving at UM in April 2008, he was a member of the Clinical Neurology Division at the Neurological Institute of New York (Clinical Professor of Neurology) where he saw patients and taught neurology residents and medical students.  Dr. Adams evaluates and treats a broad range of neurological conditions; he particularly attracts those that have presented diagnostic difficulty to referring neurologists or where there have been differences of opinion regarding treatment.  He has special interest in "Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus" and is part of a research team at UM which is doing a study of this condition.  His other special interests include Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension ("Pseudotumor Cerebri"), autoimmune disease of the nervous system, and neurologic complications of medical disease.  He continues his active teaching role at UM and hopes to develop a fellowship dedicated to training clinical neurologists similar to the ones available at Harvard and the Mayo Clinic.
