Clinical Specialties : Neuromuscular Division

Clinical Services

  • General Neuromuscular Clinic: Our neurologists are in clinic every day and available to see patients with any neuromuscular disorder.
  • Electromyography: We offer electrodiagnostic testing – both nerve conduction studies and electromyography (EMG) – as part of our clinical evaluation of patients referred for evaluation of neuromuscular disease.
  • Nerve and Muscle Pathology: We prepare and read nerve and muscle biopsies performed at the University of Miami. We also provide consultation services for histology slides prepared elsewhere.
  • ALS Clinic: We see new patients referred for evaluation of suspected ALS as well as provide follow-up care for patients with ALS at our multi-disciplinary clinic located at the Professional Arts Center (PAC) location. Please see www.als-miami.org for more information. We also oversee a wheelchair seating clinic and an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) clinic on a monthly basis. The ALS Recovery Fund, the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and the ALS Association provide invaluable support for these clinical services.
  • MDA Clinic: With support from the MDA, we staff a weekly MDA clinic for patients with both adult and pediatric neuromuscular disease.
