In-Patient Services

JMH: The NSICU at JMH is a 24 bed specialty ICU with state of the art multimodality monitoring including continuous EEG, cerebral microdilaysis, intracranial pressure and oxygen monitoring. Being one the largest trauma centers in the United States, the NSICU at Jackson Memorial Hospital cares for a large number of neurotrauma patients.  It is one of our primary aims to provide excellent critical care to these patients in an effort to improve their outcomes and limit subsequent disability.

UMH: The NSICU at UMH is an 8 bed specialty ICU which cares for patients before and after neurosurgical procedures of the brain and spinal cord, acute intracranial hemorrhage and acute stroke. The unit is equipped with a state of the art system for continuous EEG monitoring.

Our neurocritical care team provides treatment for patients with the following neurosurgical and neurological conditions:

  • Severe traumatic brain injury
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Intracranial hemorrhage (subdural, extradural and intracerebral hemorrhage)
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Post-operative neurosurgery patients
  • Severe Stroke
  • Tumors with large mass effect
  • Meningitis
  • Encephalitis
  • Cerebritis
  • Myasthenic Crisis
  • Guillain Barre Syndrome
  • Status Epilepticus
